Generally the money is held by the state comptroller. Going to the state website like ny.gov, and searching Unclaimed Funds. It is a little tricky but not too bad. Not only individuals are owed money but organizations as well. There are 51 American Legions in New York that are owed money. I helped a Post obtain $1,450.00. Contact me if you need assistance.
